MARCUSWORKS: Coffee Painting

Mark (I'm assuming this is his name considering the branding of MARCUSWORKS and Marchitecture Channel on YouTube is a very talented speed painter from the Philippines who uses coffee as a medium in some of his work. He is an architecture student at the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines.

The video below is an example of some of his coffee painting. Very inspiring work!

Marchitecture Channel offers videos on drawing caricatures and portrait painting.

Mark also has a Facebook page if want to learn more or become a fan!

Bobsmade Speed Painting With Coffee

Multi-talented Bobsmade could be producing custom clothing for you one day and speed painting with coffee the next! You can find examples of Bobsmade's work on Deviant Art or Bobsmade.com.

This is one of my favorite coffee paintings by Bobsmade.  The theme has to do with mass-consumerism and mega-corporations.

Bobsmade is a Germany based custom clothing line. That means, you say what you like, and I produce ideas that really fit you. I almost draw on everything i can get, shoes, bags, headphones, caps and of cause on canvas and walls.”

Coffee Art NYC

Andy and Angel who call themselves collectively as The Coffee Artists™ (they've even gone as far as trademarking this moniker) have several videos on YouTube. This one in-particular caught my attention.

Quotation from their Youtube information:

“The Coffee Artists™ are pleased to present to you their latest Coffee Art® achievement. It is a long story, but here are the highlights. Last summer, they were approached by a public relations firm whose clients were interested in their Coffee Art®. These two clients happen to be Starbucks and Hershey's. The two companies were planning on producing a line of chocolates, truffles and other fine tasting morsels and they were looking for a unique and exciting way to launch their product. This short film shows the creation of these paintings for this exhibition in NYC. “

Kay Bloom – Full Time Coffee Painter!

Something that caught my eye while reading about Kay Bloom is that she lists her occupation as “full time coffee painter.” This is something that has eluded me for some time now. I'm very impressed that she is able to make a living at painting with coffee.
After coming across Kay Bloom's video on YouTube I made a visit to her MySpace page – www.myspace.com/stainedcoffee to learn more about this artist. Kay keeps an impressive collection of images ranging from coffee related subject matter to iconic portraits to ethnic history.

From Kay Bloom's MySpace Page
KAY's Blurbs – About Me:
“I started entering art contests at the age of 9 despite my mothers disapproval. I entered several contests and won first place. I finally told my mother at the age of 15 I had been competing in art contests but before she could get angry I showed her all the money that I had won. We had very little money at the time and I had made enough money to buy the extra things that we needed. From that point on my mother was very supportive of me spending time practicing my art and entering contests.”

“I like creating art with many mediums charcoal, acrylic, pastel, pencil, and my favorite coffee. I started experimenting painting with coffee at the age of 20. As a kid I had helped my grandfather pick and dry coffee. Once I was in college I had so little money that I need to experiment with alternative mediums. Coffee was a perfect choice of paint. The oil in the coffee help to give the paintings a shine and textured look. I think the coffee gives my paintings a renaissance feel and accentuates the sole of my subject matter.”

Check out this coffee artist and enjoy her work! I hope she keeps up the great work!  All images posted in this article are copyright by the artist Kay Bloom.

Aria Greenland Dog Coffee Art

I came across an image posted at DeviantArt.com, Aria Greenland Dog Coffee Art by Wild Spirit Wolf.

It's cute. It's a dog. It's not painted in blood which is nice. Painting with unusual media makes this artist happy and I can't blame them. The effect of coffee on the paper they used works very well.

They are very adamant about copyright "Artwork © 2009 WildSpirit DO NOT COPY, TRACE, ALTER, OR REDISTRIBUTE IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM.
" So I can't post it here. Check it out but take care . . .
